Verizon Class Action
Class Action Against Verizon
Verizon is being investigated by California state government offices and law firms due to their violation of privacy practices. They are inserting code into cell phone users’ trackers and most users don’t know it. The trackers inject code, like cookies, but more powerful, and they are sent to all the web sites that Verizon users visit.
This tracker allows third-party advertisers and websites to assemble a deep, permanent profile of Verizon customers’ web browsing habits, allegedly without the Verizon customers’ consent.
Verizon apparently created this mechanism to expand their advertising programs, but it has privacy concerns far beyond those programs. Verizon doesn’t let users turn off this tracking “feature.” In fact, it functions even if you use a private browsing mode or clear your cookies.
