What does California law require?

Rest Breaks
Under California law, an employee is entitled to a rest break of at least 10 consecutive minutes for each 4 hours worked in a day. Rest breaks must also be paid and should generally be taken in the middle of each work period.

Meal Breaks
An employee is entitled to a meal break of at least 30 minutes is she works over 5 hours in a day. An employee who works over 10 hours is entitled to a second 30 minute meal break.

Overtime
An employee who works more than 8 hours in any workday or more than 40 hours in any workweek is entitled to 1 1/2 times her regular rate of pay for all hours worked over 8 hours in any workday or 40 hours in any workweek.
