What does California law require?<\/p>\n
Rest Breaks
\nUnder California law, an employee is entitled to a rest break of at least 10 consecutive minutes for each 4 hours worked in a day. Rest breaks must also be paid and should generally be taken in the middle of each work period.<\/p>\n
Meal Breaks
\nAn employee is entitled to a meal break of at least 30 minutes is she works over 5 hours in a day. An employee who works over 10 hours is entitled to a second 30 minute meal break.<\/p>\n
